Top Ten Tips for Long, Healthy Hair

Our hair is one of our prized possessions. We may not be able to change much about ourselves, but hair is something we can. The condition that our hair is in is directly reflected from the amount of attention and care we give it. If you are looking for ways to get your hair long and healthy, here are ten tips you can use.
1. Eat healthily
You need to make sure that you eat right and drink plenty of water. People who eat junk food often have bad hair. Our hair, just like our bodies, need essential vitamins and nutrients to be healthy.
2. Cut the split ends
If you notice that your ends are starting to break or split, get it cut. Doing this keeps your hair healthy.
3.Use hair treatments
You can use organic and homemade hair treatments to promote long, healthy hair. If you have a dry or irritated scalp, it will stunt your hair growth. Use products like tea tree oil to clean your scalp from blocked hair follicles and dry skin. There are other over the counter hair treatments you can use to clean your scalp, but many people have found that a natural hair treatment like tea tree oil works just fine.
4.Don't over-wash your hair
Your hair produces natural oils that are essential to its health. If you frequently wash your hair, you do not give your hair a chance to produce these oils. Professionals recommend that you wash your hair every other or even every third day.
5. Minimize your use of heat
Blow dryers can dry your scalp. If there are days you do not need to blow dry your hair, opt to skip out on it.
6. Do not chemically alter your hair
Dyeing, perming, and bleaching your hair are destructive. The chemicals used in these products get into your hair follicles and kill the natural elements needed for hair growth. You may find that after dyeing your hair, your hair tends to dry and split easily.
7. Massage your scalp
Massaging your scalp minimises the amount of dandruff you have. Pour a little bit of oil into your hands and massage your scalp in circular motions.
8. Avoid chlorine and saltwater
Excessive chlorine can greatly dry your hair. If you swim in chlorine, shampoo your hair right after swimming.
9. Be careful of your hairstyle
Tiny braids or tight ponytails can cause unnecessary stress on your hair's roots.
10. Rinse your hair with cold water
Cold water allows your cuticle to lay flat on your scalp, and it also prevents breakage.
These are top 10 tips to grow long, healthy hair. Consider these while you are trying to grow your hair out.
